A little reading for 2010

Sunday, January 10th, 2010

Winter looks cool, very cool and temperatures invite more to stay home by the fireplace reading books to get his case. If you did not know what books you dive into this winter, here is a small selection of those I'm booked for the next month or that I intend to read:

wtf

Within the frame (David Duchemin): I had already mentioned HERE . A very interesting book that really helps to develop a photographic approach without focusing on the hardware. To be on the shelf ... for those who speak and read English a minimum ;-) .

follmi Council of Young Photographer (Olivier Föllmi): A little book which you can see behind the scenes work of this photographer that I admire as always. Oliver reveals her daily photo-globe-trotter in embellishing these explanations of stories, dating as I fond, of course with beautiful images. you can find HERE Editions de la Martiniere.

mccurry Steve McCurry (Anthony Bannon): McCurry is certainly one of the most significant photographers of our time. I jump often these images to understand so that they are so strong, so talking to try to understand the commitment and the messages of this photographer. This book collects the most famous images with explanations and interpretations of Anthony Bannon.

Published by Phaidon, is found HERE

dewilde A man's height (Patrick Wilde): I had already noticed this book, without interest me more than that, and a friend lent me recently. Patrick DeWilde photograph the people he met for 25 years and seeks to convey the beauty and dignity of ethnic groups that he met during these years of travel. Portraits simple but strong, with some quotations.

Editions de la Martiniere, on sale HERE

mitchellk Mitchell Kanashkevich: No book "paper" for this young photographer whose work I love, but two e-Book to download in PDF format.

In its first "electronic book" Mitchell offers us a tutorial on post processing images.

In the second, Mitchell shows us its management and interpretation of light with different tools such as flash, reflector or just natural light. This book is for me a must-have because it explains simply and effectively with diagrams and examples how to light a subject.

The e-books are available on the website of Mitchell , and remember to take a ride on his blog , there are some very beautiful images. Oh, little detail is still in English.

Although I do not leave again abroad in the next few months, and winter is harsh, my devices are not stored in the closet for all my evenings and will not happen until the fire to read a book, they will even cool enough.

Back in my Savoyan I love, I shoot mainly skiing this winter and I also work on another web site dedicated to photo snow sports and concert with maybe .... blog associated with the site. Not to mention that I am preparing with images cut from my last trip to Nepal. Not a lot of work into perspective, I think I'll sleep a little less this season!

The atmosphere in the middle of the ski is very different from what I encounter while traveling. A completely different spirit and approach of the photo very different but very interesting bit where we really give free rein to their creativity. Continued ...

illustration-bienvenue

It's been ages since I was publishing more on the net. Mainly due to lack of time, or just because I did not have internet access. Yet it is important for me to share my work and express myself. Photo travel (or travel for short) result in a lot of thoughts, questions, and I can not imagine keeping all this for me. I'm doing the photo to meet, discover, share and blog seems to be ideal. I also have opinions on my work, which allows me to move forward and open the door to other ideas, other ways of working.

So I enjoyed a moment of calm between two storms to develop this blog. I'll be talking about my travels to places that have more or Deplus, my approach to people, emotions that I felt, what prompted me to take a particular picture. I would try also to tell the story of some photos, explaining my approach, the circumstances ... and much more.

Although I have no taste for discussions on the art, it may happen to speak without lying down because the technology is without doubt what bothers me most about photography. I speak simply tools that use and which I can express what I feel. For fans of the technology, I'll post may be links to other sites with people who speak better than me.

This space is dedicated to the exchange and sharing, you are primarily designed dear readers. So please leave comments on posts, and wondering if you would like me to address a particular topic, to let me know your comments ... This may also help to vary the topics and feed this blog on a regular and consistent.

Happy reading!
